On 26th of May 2006, Pepitant and me

where founding aircooled-nation.com .

The Idea was a local free comunity

of aircooled-minded cracks.

Cheri poped up and as one of many other results

our website and blog where launched in March 2007.

We´ve had a lot of fun, fine projects and all of us

found a lot of new friends.

Worldwide.

Thanx for that!

In autum 2008 other things became important and

the Landlord´s decision to quit the rental-contract of

our home as X-mas gift was also not very helpful.

In 2010 we ( Pepitant, Cheri and me) canceled the club

because no one of us have had the power to

reanimate a patient witch was dead over a year.

Today, 5 years where gone after founding, aircooled-naion.com

is still alive, as a portal for Type4 fans.

I wish Daniel, who is the new owner of aircooled-nation.com,

all the best for his phorum.

One of our best year was 2007.

The roof, the roof...

Today I was a little unmotivated to work on my Bug and

after I found a roll of black highglossy Oracal-Vinyl at my

stuff, the Beemer gets a black wrapped roof.

Im not sure if I want to keep the look.

What do you think?

Sorry for not posting the last few month.

To much work, to less time.

Had some news for you:

Left the barn in February to a much closer one at the place i live.

Now it takes me just 5 minutes to go there, not an hour driving like before.

F. is still in the old barn.Thanx to him and good luck for the future.

The 1500S is sold to Manfred, a type 34 nut, who try to bring it back on the road in its ratty condition later this summer.Cant wait to see it finished.

I look now for a better one and for the meanwhile i bought me a 1983 BMW e28 520i.

Yes, i know.. a Beeemer...

But:Just one owner ( he is now 89 years old ),

Alpinwhite with 144tkm´s on it and perfect pacific-blue interior.

It has some minor rust and dents and the Exhaust is broken, but it has a legal MOT till next Feb.

Have much fun with that thing but a nice Type3 must come next for real satisfaction.

Life is coming back to the barn

And yesss, the whorstback is back.

The 740 starts to says goodbye to this World.

F. was on vacation the hole summer and I was

too much busy to spend time to the Barn or my projects.

There was just a little session on the end of July to

make some TLC to the Hulk.

It sat in some garages the last 10 years, awaiting its reanimation.

After i found the title for it at home I get hungry for it.

It runs after 10 minutes of trying to start but the clutch won´t work.

I disassembled everything to change the clutch and

unfortunally I broke me two fingers on the left hand

with a hammer.. what a nice experience..
A friend who was visiting me in the Barn left me just minutes before,
so i drove to the Hospital with the Manta by myselfe,
A very nice experience too.

Since this i wasnt in the Barn and the Smallframe lays
on the floor with the inside out,

surrounded of some tools and things.

I guess F. hates me for not cleaning up the Barn

after i broke my fingers...

Barnactivities part II

Today, I was finishing the workbench.

All it needs to be finished it is some wireing

and two shelfes for both storetrays.

My old Ikea CD storage "Benno"

was getting a new challange too.

Measurements are 240 x 60 x 95

Workshelf is made of Birchwood

Wheight: ca 85Kg

It was taking 12 hours to build.

At Benno our Barn-HiFi find a new home.

Radio/CD, amplifier , a active 3-way frequency switch

and the power supply for all sit behind the white cover.

Power supply and light switch on the right.

A good Workbench needs his own VIN.

F. is going to break the longtime record

in slaming a Squareback.

2 Weeks and no end in sight.. ; )

My son was doing a complete overhaul of the engine in the meanwhile.

I´ve started to build our workbench.

Naturally not without the help of my son.

Ran out of screws so the workbench enjoys a little break till tomorrow.

Mainframe is done and those two boxes will

get modified to drawers tomorrow.

1965 1500S Notch barnfind

Ok.

The car problem about the rims is solved.

Bought me a 1965 1500S Notchback today at the austrian province of Waldviertel.

It was driven in this barn back in 1988 and sat there till now.

Interior is in good shape because the seats where allways covered with red seatcovers.

The whole car is a perfect base to build something nice out of it.

No missing parts and some boxes full of parts (some of them NOS in original Boxes) comes

with the car.

Austrian title and the keys too.

As fas as I saw there is not much to weld, but I never trust a Type3 before

I havent seen every area after some disassembling.

Sorry about the bad Iphone-pics, but i was too much excited about this find

and forgot to take more pictures or check quality of them.

Because of my time intensive job at the moment,

it will take some weeks before the Noch arrives to our barn,

so please be patient if you want to see mor of it.

Some people say the biggest sin for a mid-european

aircooled VW guy is to drive an Opel.

But the absolute whorst case is to drive an Opel Manta.

Whatever...I dont care about that.

And here is the reason why:

One of the first Manta B Opel build back in 1976.

This is a unrestored survivor car.

This car is completly stock and covered just 86000 km´s.

Full stamped servicebook and a interior like new included.

Had much fun with it the last 2,5 years.

Its naturally not in showroom condition but rustfree

and untouched.Perfect enough for me to have fun with

it in the future too.

whithout fixing an appointment before.

He is such a humorless bastard..

For the future the first projekt I want to reralize is

to build a small but usefull workbench for us.

Was doing that in minutes at a very important

meeting at work.. ;)

Put some stuff in the barn.

Mr.F´s Whorstback arrived too.

In my opinion this Square just need its original

headlights and indicators back,

a nice set of Fuchs rims and

a full "slamitsession" .

This ride could be such a nice supershitlooker.

I love its home made rockers and

belive it or not, this peace of crap

is´nt far to get a full austrian MOT!
